What is the law
The use of carbide in cooking fruit is banned under Food Safety and Standards Act-2011, section 2.3.5. There is also a provision for punishment for the storage, sale, marketing or importing of it. According to the act, no fruit can be cooked by applying chemical. Common or any fruit cooked with carbide harm the body. He said that if any adulterant or fruit seller is cooking fruits from the chemical, then it can be reported to the department.

Why do we use chemicals

  • Peeling before eating fruits and vegetables reduces the effect of pesticides.
